A useful distributor check ends with evidence you can use to make a buying decision. A polished website is only the beginning. For a US Amazon seller, the practical questions are whether the business can supply the exact product, whether your account can sell it, whether the documents support the transaction, and whether the economics work after all the costs you will actually pay. Use these questions with any supplier. The answers below explain what Athena makes visible and where you should ask for order-specific confirmation. Keep the responses with your purchase record so the facts do not disappear into a phone conversation. A good answer can still be “we need to check that line”; treat an unanswered question as something to resolve before paying.
1. Which company am I buying from?
Check the legal seller on the quote, invoice and payment instructions, as well as the trading name on the website. Athena Wholesale is the trading name of Hector Solutions, Inc., a Delaware corporation. Our About and terms pages identify that company. Compare those details with the documents you receive. Ask about any difference before sending money; a familiar logo alone does not establish the contracting party.
2. Is the address an office, warehouse or correspondence address?
Our published US correspondence address is 169 Madison Ave, STE 15789, New York, NY 10016; the UK correspondence address is 60 Cheapside, London, City of London, EC2V 6AX. These locations serve different purposes. An address on a legal footer does not establish where a particular shipment will leave from or where customers may visit. Ask for the dispatch arrangement relevant to your order and destination. Do not plan a collection, delivery appointment or warehouse visit from a correspondence address without an explicit confirmation.
3. Can I reach a person about the order?
Use the published business contact routes, and retain the reply to your specific enquiry. Contact Athena at sales@athenawholesale.co, call +1 989-789-0977 for US support or +44 20 8064 3710 for UK support, or use our call-booking route. Before placing a complicated order, establish how to raise an invoice, allocation or shipping question and quote the order reference when you do. Do not infer a response-time guarantee from an available booking link.
4. What kinds of stock does the supplier buy?
Athena's published sourcing statement describes new stock bought from brands, publishers, manufacturers and authorised distributors. That general sourcing description is different from holding an authorisation letter for a particular brand. If a product application needs specific evidence, identify the line and the required document before ordering rather than assuming every supplier relationship has the same paperwork.
5. Will this exact item match the Amazon listing?
Compare the product identifier, edition, pack count, size, colour and condition with the exact ASIN you intend to sell. A similar title or photograph is not enough. Keep a note of the match you checked. If a catalogue identifier looks incomplete or a variation is unclear, ask the supplier to resolve it before committing to the quantity.
6. Is the brand permitted on my seller account?
Check the listing through your own Seller Central account. Another seller’s approval and a distributor’s willingness to supply are separate from your eligibility. Approval status can change, and different products in the same brand may behave differently. Save the current application requirements if you need them, then ask whether the supplier can provide the relevant genuine transaction documents.
7. Does the supplier guarantee Amazon approval?
Athena does not guarantee approval. Amazon makes that decision for the seller and application concerned. A supplier can explain its documents and correct a genuine error in an issued invoice, but it cannot promise the outcome of Amazon's assessment. Build an order around products you can sell and evidence you can obtain, rather than a claim of guaranteed ungating.
8. What document will I receive?
The issued document follows the payment schedule: a single-payment order receives a commercial invoice; a deposit schedule first produces a deposit invoice for the initial payment and later a balance invoice. A deposit invoice is not the commercial document Amazon typically requests. Athena-issued invoices are downloadable PDFs once issued; orders invoiced through our invoice portal open there instead, and are available only after issue. Ask which earlier document is a quotation, order acknowledgement or payment request. They are not interchangeable. Read the invoice against your actual transaction and Amazon’s current request. If your plan depends on an invoice, do not assume that an earlier proforma or basket confirmation will serve the same purpose.
9. Will the customer details match my business?
Check your legal business name and billing address before submitting the trade application and order. Compare them with the details held in Seller Central. A trading name or delivery address can be different from the registered buyer information. Resolve the distinction with the supplier instead of editing a PDF yourself after it has been issued.
10. Can each invoice line be tied to the goods?
Review the product description, identifier, units and quantity. A case quantity should not be mistaken for a count of individual retail units. Ask for clarification if the description does not establish the product you are purchasing. Brand information is helpful where available, but a brand name alone does not distinguish an edition, a multipack or a specific variation.
11. What additional supply-chain documents are available?
Athena's public statement offers supply-chain documentation on request. For an actual purchase, ask which documents can be provided for the specific line and what information the request needs. Do not assume this means a brand authorisation letter, an unrestricted upstream invoice, or a promised turnaround. Confirm the practical arrangement before relying on it in an application.
12. What is the minimum order for this range?
The current US minimum is $3,000 per range, taken from the same rule that gates checkout. Your basket shows each range's progress and will not submit while a range is below its minimum. Check the quantity or carton rules shown for the products. A total basket value can conceal a shortfall in one range. Minimums affect how much cash you commit and which products make sense together. Read the amount in the correct marketplace and currency; do not carry a UK minimum into a US calculation.
13. Can I arrange a smaller trial order?
Athena provides a sales-led route to discuss a first trial order below the normal minimum. It is an arrangement to agree, rather than an automatic checkout entitlement or a universal waiver. Send the proposed products and quantities to sales and obtain confirmation before treating a smaller basket as accepted. Use the trial to test the process as well as demand.
14. Is the stock actually allocated to my order?
Submitting a Athena basket creates an order request, not a stock reservation or accepted order. We check availability and may confirm, reduce, substitute with your agreement or decline lines; acceptance occurs when we issue an order confirmation. A visible catalogue line is not the same as a confirmed allocation. Ask which units are available, which are backordered and which cannot be supplied. Use the confirmed quantities when planning inbound shipments and cash requirements. If an allocation changes, compare the revised commercial documents and any balance due with the version you originally approved.
15. What does the quoted price include?
Separate the product price from prep, labelling, freight, duties and any destination-specific services. Record the currency and delivery terms. Two suppliers can show the same unit price while leaving very different work and costs with the buyer. Ask for the complete order-specific quote before comparing them on landed cost or deciding how much inventory to buy.
16. What sales evidence can I inspect?
Athena's catalogue surfaces product-level demand and Amazon market data where available. Check the date, source and granularity rather than reading an estimate as a promise. A family sales figure does not establish the sales of the child variation you intend to buy. Missing data is a reason to investigate, not evidence that the product cannot sell.
17. What price and fees drive the ROI figure?
Inspect the selling-price basis and the fees included in the calculation. Compare current pricing with the historical context and consider the other sellers on the listing. A positive displayed ROI can still leave insufficient room for your inbound and operating costs. Use the estimate as a shortlist signal, then complete the calculation for your own fulfilment arrangement.
18. What happens if goods arrive damaged or short?
Our published Shipping & Returns policy asks you to report damaged, incorrect or missing goods to sales@athenawholesale.co within five business days of receipt, quoting the order number and including photographs. Verified claims may be resolved by replacement, credit or refund at our option. We do not accept change-of-mind returns or returns because a marketplace declines your listing. Read the current policy and order terms before paying. Agree how to record a shortage or damage when the shipment arrives, and keep the delivery evidence and product identifiers together. Do not assume a supplier offers sale-or-return or accepts a change of mind because a consumer retailer would. Commercial terms should be part of the comparison, not an afterthought.
19. Can this line be replenished on workable terms?
Ask about the current route to replenishment without treating past availability as a future commitment. Case packs, prices, stock and delivery arrangements may change. A profitable first batch is more useful when you know how to assess a repeat order. Recheck the market and obtain a fresh confirmation instead of automatically copying the first basket.
20. What evidence should make me pause?
Pause when identities cannot be reconciled, the exact goods remain unclear, a payment request contradicts the agreed transaction, or an essential document cannot be confirmed. Write down the unresolved question and ask for the specific evidence needed to answer it. This is not a reason to demand impossible guarantees; it is a way to distinguish normal commercial uncertainty from a gap that prevents a sound purchase.
What Athena shows you: which figures help you decide?
The catalogue brings together trade price, Amazon Buy Box context, estimated fees, sales rank, estimated monthly sales and 90-day ROI where data is available. Inspect the source and basis of the figures on the product rather than treating them as a promise. Your final decision still needs the current account-specific checks and the costs of your chosen delivery and fulfilment arrangement.
Where can I check the next step?
Use the public catalogue demo to understand the buying information, then read our wholesale supplier overview and invoice and approval guide. The per-product ROI guide explains the figures in more detail. Ask the sales team about the exact products, destination and documents you need before making a purchase decision.
For our current commercial terms, read Terms of Trade and Shipping & Returns. The About page and contact page identify the business and support routes.
For the platform's own guidance, see Amazon's wholesale sourcing guide, Amazon's fee-estimation tools and the requirements displayed in your own Seller Central account. Those sources and the current order confirmation should take precedence over an older saved article.
