How toy resellers should plan around seasonality and compliance

A practical guide to assessing toys and games before peak season, including restrictions, age grading, invoice records and margin pressure.

Toys can be excellent wholesale lines, but timing matters. Demand, ad costs, storage pressure and marketplace restrictions often move together, especially in the run-up to peak season.

Separate evergreen from seasonal stock

Evergreen toys can justify repeat replenishment. Seasonal toys need a faster sell-through plan and a clearer exit price. Before ordering, decide whether you are buying for steady rotation or a short selling window.

Check restrictions before the invoice arrives

Review brand gating, age grading, safety requirements and marketplace category restrictions before you buy. Keep invoices organised by order so you can respond quickly if a marketplace asks for documentation.

Stress-test peak margins

Peak demand can hide fee increases, storage costs and repricing competition. Model conservative selling prices and leave room for promotions, returns and late-season markdowns.
